Yoshi No Gawa Goku Jo Ginjo Sake - 720 ml

Yoshi No Gawa Goku Jo Ginjo originates from Nagaoka City in the Niigata Prefecture of Japan. Established in 1548, Yoshi No Gawa is the oldest sake brewery in Niigata and the fifth oldest in all of Japan. The brewery has been managed by the founding family for nineteen generations and is currently led by owner Koji Kawakami.

Description

This Ginjo sake is clear in appearance and is crafted using 100% select local Niigata rice, with Gohyakumangoku used for the koji. It presents a refreshing and elegant aromatic profile with hints of peach, nectarine, and orange blossom, complemented by subtle notes of licorice and apple mint. On the palate, it is lean and tight with a smooth, transparent mouthfeel featuring flavours of Fuji apple, fennel, and fresh herbs. The finish is clean, dry, and crisp with a lingering silkiness. It has an alcohol content of 15.5% and a rice polishing rate of 55%.

Food Pairing

The delicate and light structure of this Ginjo makes it an ideal partner for fresh seafood such as raw oysters, steamed clams, and bacon-wrapped scallops. It also pairs exceptionally well with creamy or savoury dishes like carrot ginger soup, Camembert cheese, and fig and prosciutto pizza. For a refreshing vegetable match, consider serving it with a zesty melon salad or king oyster yakitori. It is best enjoyed chilled to maintain its crisp acidity and fragrant fruit notes.
