Chateau Petrus 2022 is an iconic red wine from the Pomerol appellation on the Right Bank of Bordeaux, France. Situated at the highest elevation of the Pomerol plateau, the estate is owned by the Moueix family and managed by Technical Director Olivier Berrouet. The winery is legendary for its unique 11.4-hectare vineyard of 40-million-year-old smectite blue clay, a terroir that allows the estate to produce a singular expression of Merlot characterized by extraordinary power, depth, and longevity.

Wine Description

The 2022 vintage presents a deep, dark ruby or garnet-purple colour. The nose is highly aromatic and complex, offering a 'fragrance bomb' of mulberries, black cherries, and raspberries, beautifully accented by notes of violets, licorice, and dark chocolate. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, opulent, and incredibly concentrated, yet it maintains a striking vibrancy and 'ethereal' freshness. Stylistically, it features 'liquid cashmere' tannins and a seamless, multi-dimensional structure, concluding with a long, mouthwatering finish marked by salty mineral notes and spice. The varietal composition is 100% Merlot. While showing some up-front appeal due to its purity, it has an exceptional drinking window projected between 2030 and 2070.
