Bardstown 'Collaborative Series' Ferrand Finish II Cognac Cask Bourbon

Bardstown Collaborative Series Maison Ferrand Finish II is produced in the United States, within the region of Kentucky and the subregion of Bardstown. Released in late 2025 as part of the esteemed Collaborative Series, this expression marks the second partnership between the Bardstown Bourbon Company and the prestigious French Cognac house, Maison Ferrand. The release follows the distillery's philosophy of "never standing still," merging high-aged American whiskies with the refined, fruit-driven elegance of French Cognac cask maturation.

Spirit Description

This limited-edition spirit is legally classified as a "Blend of Straight Whiskies" due to the inclusion of a straight rye component alongside three aged Kentucky bourbons. The specific blend consists of:

  • 73%: 9-year-old Kentucky Bourbon (74/18/8 mash bill).

  • 10%: 11-year-old Kentucky Bourbon (78/13/9 mash bill).

  • 10%: 12-year-old Kentucky Bourbon (75/13/12 mash bill).

  • 7%: 6-year-old Bardstown Bourbon Co. Rye (95/5 mash bill).

The whiskey was finished for 15 months in Maison Ferrand Cognac barrels. It presents a dark amber colour and an intricate nose of French vanilla, black cherry, and sandalwood, accented by white chocolate and roasted almond. On the palate, it is full-bodied and viscous, offering layers of baked apple, pecan praline, and raisin that transition into "pastry shop" flavours and manuka honey. The finish is exceptionally long and complex, featuring oak-laden tannins, dark chocolate, and a final refreshing "kiss of mint". It is bottled at a robust cask strength of 111.8 proof (55.9% ABV).
