Bardstown Bottled In Bond Wheated Bourbon

Bardstown Origin Series Bottled-in-Bond (BIB) is produced in the United States, in the heart of Bardstown, Kentucky. This expression is a milestone for the Bardstown Bourbon Company, as it is part of the "Origin Series"—the first line of whiskies to be entirely estate-distilled, aged, and bottled at their high-tech distillery rather than being sourced or blended from other producers. Following the strict federal "Bottled-in-Bond" Act of 1897, it is the product of a single distilling season, aged for at least four years in a federally bonded warehouse, and bottled at exactly 100 proof.

Spirit Description

This expression is a wheated bourbon, utilizing wheat as the secondary grain instead of the more traditional rye. It is aged for 6 years and crafted from a mash bill of 68% corn, 20% wheat, and 12% malted barley. In the glass, it presents a deep golden to chestnut mahogany colour. The nose is elegant and complex, opening with baked peach, cocoa, and lemon zest, alongside aromas of warm cinnamon rolls, honey, and a hint of toasted coconut. On the palate, the wheat provides a rich, creamy, and decadent mouthfeel. It features indulgent layers of stone fruit, toffee, and vanilla cream, balanced by a "whisper" of barrel char and light oak. The finish is long and slightly drying, characterized by lingering orange rind, baking spices, and a touch of dusty cocoa. Bardstown BIB is bottled at 50% ABV (100 proof).
