Aia Vecchia Orleto Cabernet Franc 2021

This rare, monovarietal red wine originates from the Bolgheri region of Tuscany, Italy. Produced by Aia Vecchia, a winery founded in 1995 by the Pellegrini family, Orleto represents the culmination of decades of research into Cabernet Franc’s potential on the Tuscan coast. It is the winery's first new release in over 20 years, joining their established icons like Sor Ugo and Lagone. The vineyards are located at an elevation of 80 metres, benefiting from the region’s unique microclimate where sunlight is reflected off the Tyrrhenian Sea, allowing the grapes to reach optimal ripeness.

Wine Description

The Aia Vecchia Orleto is a bold and structured 100% Cabernet Franc. It presents a dark, sumptuous profile with an expressive nose of blackberry, plum, and mocha, layered with sophisticated notes of espresso, leather, tobacco, and incense. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and rich, showcasing a plush, velvety texture and a core of dark fruit balanced by mineral and earthy depth. It is characterized by well-integrated but firm tannins and a long, persistent finish. The wine underwent a 30-day maceration in stainless steel followed by 24 months of aging in barrique and an additional 12 months in the bottle. It has a robust ABV of 15%.
