Zuccardi Finca Los Membrillos 2020
This distinguished single-vineyard red originates from the Paraje Altamira IG in the southern Uco Valley, Mendoza, Argentina. Located at the eastern limit of the appellation at 1,060 metres above sea level, Finca Los Membrillos is named after the quince trees (membrilleros) that traditionally surround the vineyard—a hallmark of the region's historic viticulture. The estate was planted over 20 years ago and acquired by the Zuccardi family in 2008; since then, winemaking director Sebastián Zuccardi has focused on expressing the site's "indelible stamp" and complex, calcareous-rich soils.
Wine Description
The 2020 Zuccardi Finca Los Membrillos is a powerful and refined 100% Cabernet Sauvignon with an intense red colour and black hues. The nose is complex and savory, offering aromas of cassis, black plum, and dark cherry, layered with fresh herbal nuances, sweet tobacco leaf, and a hint of flinty minerality. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and juicy, showcasing a vibrant acidity and a massive quantity of silky, feathery tannins. It is characterized by its elegant structure and a prolonged finish marked by saline and mineral notes. This wine has an ABV of 14% and was fermented in concrete vats with native yeasts before being aged entirely in used 500-litre French oak barrels to ensure the fruit remains the primary focus.
