Togouchi Pure Malt Japanese Whisky - 700 ml
Togouchi Pure Malt is a blended malt whisky produced by the Sakurao Brewery and Distillery (formerly Chugoku Jozo) in the Hiroshima Prefecture. A unique aspect of Togouchi's production is its maturation process; while the distillery is located near the Seto Inland Sea, the whisky is aged in a decommissioned railway tunnel in the mountains of Akiota. This tunnel maintains a constant temperature of 14°C and a humidity of 80% year-round, providing an ideal environment for slow, consistent maturation. As a pure malt, this expression is a blend of various malt whiskies that have been married together to achieve a specific house style.
Whisky Description
This whisky presents a bright golden appearance. The nose is clean and fresh, offering aromas of vanilla, chocolate, and a faint hint of ripe apricot. On the palate, the body is light to medium, delivering a gentle sweetness characterized by notes of butterscotch, honey, and cereal grains. The influence of the oak is subtle, providing a soft nutty background and a delicate peppery spice. The finish is short to medium in length, ending with a refreshing crispness and a lingering touch of sweet malt. It is bottled at 40% ABV.
