Tignanello 2022 (by Tenuta Tignanello) - 3 Litre Bottle
Tignanello 2022 is a 'Super Tuscan' wine produced by the Antinori family at the Tenuta Tignanello estate in Italy's Tuscany region, in the heart of Chianti Classico. The Antinori family has been in the winemaking business for over 26 generations, since 1385. Tignanello was a pioneering wine for the Chianti Classico region, being one of the first red wines to be made without white grapes, and the first to age Sangiovese in small oak barrels (barriques).
Wine Description
This wine is a blend of 78% Sangiovese, 18% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 4% Cabernet Franc. It presents an intense ruby red colour with purple highlights. The aroma is a captivating blend of cherry, ripe black cherries, and pomegranate, with notes of violet, fresh balsamic hints, and subtle vanilla and candy floss nuances. On the palate, the wine is dynamic, dense, and fresh, with supple, savory tannins. It is described as elegant, balanced, and complex, with a long finish that echoes the aromatic notes. The optimal drinking window is from 2026 to 2040.

Food Pairing
Tignanello is a versatile wine that pairs well with a variety of foods, including roasted and grilled meats like a Florentine T-bone steak or roast lamb with rosemary and garlic. Its depth and complexity also make it a great match for hearty pasta dishes, such as pappardelle with wild boar ragù or porcini mushroom risotto. Additionally, it pairs well with aged cheeses like Pecorino Toscano or Parmigiano Reggiano.
Vintage Quality
The 2022 growing season in Tuscany was characterized by hot and dry conditions, with lower-than-average rainfall until August. Despite these challenges, the vines demonstrated resilience, with rainfall in mid-August bringing cooler temperatures and restoring ideal day/night temperature swings for ripening. This allowed the grapes to achieve outstanding quality, highlighting the winemaker's skill in adapting to the climate
