Tbilvino Kindzmaruali Red Wine

Introduction

This red wine originates from Georgia, specifically from the Kindzmarauli micro zone within the Kakheti region in eastern Georgia. Founded in 1962, Tbilvino was the focal point of the Georgian wine industry during the Soviet era and is now led by brothers Zurab and Giorgi Margvelashvili. The winery's philosophy combines traditional Georgian methods with modern technology, utilizing estate owned vineyards that have been equipped with advanced drip irrigation systems since 2013 to ensure high quality fruit.

Wine Description

Tbilvino Kindzmarauli displays a characteristic dark ruby or vibrant scarlet colour with violet reflections. The nose is scented and expressive, offering a well preserved grape flavour with dominant undertones of blackberry and cherry alongside notes of dried fig, raisins, and cassis. On the palate, the wine is velvety and dense, featuring a lively acidity that is well balanced by its natural sweetness. It is characterized by its smooth, easy drinking nature with hints of pomegranate, chocolate, and spice on the finish. This 100% Saperavi wine typically has an ABV of 11% to 12.5%. The natural semi sweet style is achieved by arresting fermentation before all sugars are converted to alcohol, resulting in a residual sugar level of approximately 35-45 g/L. While Tbilvino utilizes modern and sustainable vineyard management, this specific bottling is not certified organic. The optimal drinking window is from release through several years, though it is often enjoyed in its youth to preserve fresh fruit tones.
