The 2020 Nuestra Senora del Tercer Gemelo is a single-vineyard wine from The Third Twin estate vineyard, based around soils of pure sand. It's composed of 54% Mourvedre, 22% Grenache, 11% Syrah, 9.3% Petite Sirah, 3% Graciano, and 0.7% Viognier. It was made using 30% whole clusters and aged about 31 months in French oak barrels, 33% new. Very deep garnet-black in color, it charges out with savory notes of black truffles, black olives, and chargrill, giving way to a core of plum preserves, dried mulberries, lavender, crushed rocks, and cracked black pepper.
The full-bodied palate is pure seduction, chock full of rich black fruit preserves flavors and a fantastic array of savory and earth accents, supported by firm grainy tannins and bold freshness, finishing long and minerally. What a stunning expression of this vineyard! It was bottled in April 2023. 425 cases were made.
