Produttori del Barbaresco - Barbaresco 'Montestefano' Riserva??
Hailing from the Barbaresco DOCG in Italy’s Piedmont region, this potent red wine carries a rich heritage. The winery’s story began in 1958 when a village priest and local growers collaborated to protect the Nebbiolo grape and support the farming community. Today, the cooperative consists of fifty four families who exclusively grow Nebbiolo, adhering to a winemaking philosophy that prioritizes the unique expression of their premium vineyard sites.
Wine Description
The 'Montestefano' Riserva is a 100% Nebbiolo that showcases a deep ruby red colour. Often described as the most 'Barolo-like' of the cooperative's crus, it is renowned for its massive structure and incredible depth. The sensory profile features a powerful bouquet of dark cherries, strawberries, and black raspberries, interwoven with complex notes of licorice, tobacco, leather, and alpine herbs. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and broad, offering a rich, explosive character with sturdy, well-integrated tannins and a persistent, mineral-driven finish. It is fermented at 30°C with 28 days of skin contact before aging for 30 months in large oak barrels and 9 months in the bottle. While possessing immense power, it maintains an elegant balance and is built for significant aging, with an optimal drinking window typically spanning 2027 to 2049.
Food Pairing
The substantial grip and intensity of 'Montestefano' make it an excellent match for hearty fare such as grilled ribeye, rack of lamb, or slow-braised venison. It also pairs beautifully with fresh egg pastas topped with rich meat ragù and aged cheeses like Parmigiano Reggiano. A perfect match to enhance the wine's complexity
