Poligonos San Pablo Cabernet Franc 2020

This high-altitude red wine originates from the San Pablo IG in the Tunuyán subregion of the Uco Valley, Mendoza, Argentina. Produced by Zuccardi Valle de Uco, the "Polígonos" range is a tribute to the diversity of the valley's terroirs, with each "polygon" representing a specific village or subregion. The San Pablo vineyard is one of the most extreme in Mendoza, situated at an altitude of approximately 1,400 metres (4,593 ft) at the base of the Andes mountains, where the cold mountain climate and Andean breezes dictate the wine's character.

Wine Description

The Zuccardi Polígonos San Pablo Cabernet Franc displays a bright ruby-red colour with violet hues. The sensory profile is remarkably fresh and herbal, defined by the extreme mountain climate. The nose opens with a core of fresh red fruits, such as raspberries and cherries, layered with intense herbal notes of mint, jalapeño, and tea leaves, alongside subtle hints of tobacco. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied and "raw," showcasing vibrant acidity and fine, steely tannins that provide a chalky texture. It is characterized by its linear, sappy, and juicy nature, leading to a long, mineral-inflected finish. This 100% Cabernet Franc was fermented in concrete vats with native yeasts, then aged for 10 months in used French oak foudres or barrels to preserve its mountain identity.
