Plantation Land Series Panama 2010
Plantation Land Series Panama 2010 (also known as the Terravera Collection) is a vintage limited edition produced by Maison Ferrand at the Don José Distillery in Panama. This release is a tribute to Panamanian terroir, utilizing 100% locally grown sugarcane molasses and a modern multi-column still distillation. It undergoes Plantation’s signature "double aging" process: it matured for 8 years in ex-bourbon casks in the tropical humidity of Central America before traveling to Javrezac, France, for an additional 5 years of continental aging in 350L French oak Ferrand casks.
Spirit Description
The rum is bottled at a bold 51.4% ABV (102.8 proof) and presents a warm amber hue. It is noted for being surprisingly fruity and structured for a column-still rum.
Nose: Highly fragrant and aromatic. It opens with fresh coconut, dill, and vanilla, followed by a lush fruit basket of plum, nectarine, and apricot. Subtle notes of honey, almond, and sesame add a nutty complexity.
Palate: The entry is fresh and spicy. It delivers vibrant flavors of pear, berries, and orange zest, grounded by rich butterscotch, milk chocolate, and hints of roasted coffee. The high proof provides a "zingy" intensity that carries the spice.
-
Finish: Long and dry. It leaves a lingering impression of tobacco, licorice, and allspice, with a final tropical touch of banana and coconut.
