Pirramimma Heritage Limited Edition Cabernet Petit Verdot 2022
Pirramimma Heritage Cabernet Petit Verdot is a distinguished red blend from the McLaren Vale region of South Australia. Founded in 1892 by Alexander Campbell Johnston, Pirramimma remains a family owned and operated estate, currently led by grandson and chief winemaker Geoff Johnston. The winery is a celebrated pioneer of the Petit Verdot variety in Australia, having researched the grape for over a decade before releasing the country's first single varietal expression in 1994.
Wine Description
This full bodied blend presents a deep, dense maroon colour. The bouquet is complex, exhibiting intense aromas of blackcurrant, blueberry, and spicy pepper, interwoven with secondary notes of mocha, cedar, and tobacco leaf. On the palate, the wine is rich and structured, where the 'spice rack' nature of the Petit Verdot adds significant grip and density to the elegant Cabernet Sauvignon base. Flavours of dark chocolate, cherry, and forest herbs are supported by firm, velvety tannins and balanced acidity. Maturation in French oak provides a sleek finish with hints of toasted almond and nutmeg.
