Peri Peri Zibibbo Liola 2024
The Peri Peri project began when the Cerchio family acquired a site in the Noto area of southern Sicily, a classic agricultural zone known for its chalk-rich soils and Mediterranean varieties. The name 'Peri Peri' is a tribute to the ancient explorers and travellers, or 'wanderers,' who met at this junction point of the Mediterranean, while 'Liola' references a classic Sicilian play. The Famiglia De Cerchio's philosophy is centred on organic winegrowing and respect for natural cycles, which includes embracing spontaneous fermentation to ensure the wines are an authentic expression of their place of origin.
Wine Description
The sensory profile is intensely aromatic, with aromas that lean toward citrus blossom, white peach, lime zest, and a light herbal note reminiscent of fresh mint. Other notes include lychee, mandarin peel, orange blossoms, jasmine, and tropical fruits. On the palate, it is dry, clean, and fresh. Flavours of mandarin, pear skin, and gentle tropical notes are evident.
