Monteleone Etna Bianco 2024
Monteleone is a relatively new Etna producer, started in 2017 by Giulia Monteleone, her father Enrico, and her husband Benedetto Alessandrino. The winery is driven by a family-centric philosophy that has erased the boundary between life and work, transforming their lives through the complex adventure of winemaking. Their project began after choosing an old two-hectare vineyard near the Alcantara River on the north slope of Mount Etna, a place they considered their 'locus amoenus' or ideal spot to make wine.
Wine Description
This Etna Bianco is made exclusively from 100% Carricante grapes. On the nose, it offers delicate wafts of white blossom and citrus fruit, with notes of acacia flowers and ripe stone fruit. One may also find a lovely saline aroma and oyster-shell minerality, with hints of lemon leaves and white pepper. The palate is characterized by notes of ripe citrus fruits, peach, and apricot, mingling with ripe yellow fruits. It is a full white wine with a light body and tense, vibrant acidity that is perfectly balanced.
Food Pairing
Suggested pairings include fresh cheeses, white fish, fried seafood, and seafood-based main dishes or pasta/rice dishes. Specific suggestions include risotto with porcini mushrooms, or pesce crudo/ceviche/sushi.
