This vibrant and 'fresh' white wine originates from the United States, specifically from the Monterey County subregion of the Central Coast in California. Founded thirty years ago by Chuck Wagner of Caymus Vineyards, Mer Soleil was born from a search for ideal Chardonnay land along the California coast. Today, the estate is led by his son, winemaker Charlie Wagner, who spent time in the vineyards as a child and eventually spearheaded the creation of 'Silver'. This 100% Chardonnay presents a pale yellow hue and is defined by its complete lack of oak exposure. The sensory profile features an inviting nose of creamy citrus, lemon zest, and Meyer lemon blossoms, layered with a distinct minerality that evokes wet granite. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied and 'round', showcasing flavours of sweet clementine, mango, and pink grapefruit underpinned by a crisp, racy acidity. It is characterized by an intriguing mid-palate of lemon meringue and quince that carries through to a clean, mouth-watering finish. To preserve its natural fruit purity and 'awakened' freshness, the wine is fermented and aged in a combination of stainless steel and small concrete tanks imported from Burgundy.
