Martinelli Bella Vigna Pinot Noir 2023
The Martinelli family has been a part of the Russian River Valley's history since 1887, first planting Zinfandel and Muscat Alexandria vines. The family, now in its sixth generation of wine growers, began producing Pinot Noir under their own label in 1993, and the 'Bella Vigna' (Italian for 'Beautiful Vines') label is a blend curated from their estate Pinot Noir vineyards to reflect the Martinelli style.
Wine Description
It boasts a bouquet of summertime cherries and raspberries. On the palate, it presents supple flavours of ripe cherries and pomegranate, accented by a dusting of cinnamon. Other notes include leather, violet, clove, and earthiness. This is a rich, full-bodied, and generously structured wine with silky, balanced tannins and refreshing acidity. It is unfined and unfiltered, showcasing a complex and rounded palate with a long, lingering finish.
Food Pairing
Suggested pairings include roasted poultry like duck or chicken, grilled or roasted salmon or tuna, pork tenderloin, and lighter red meat dishes. Its earthy undertones make it an excellent match for mushroom-based dishes, such as truffle risotto, or roasted root vegetables.
