Lysholm Linie Aquavit

Lysholm Linie Aquavit is produced in Norway, with its historical roots and traditional point of origin in Trondheim. The brand’s heritage dates back to 1821 when it was founded by Jørgen B. Lysholm, a pioneer in Norwegian spirits production. The distillery is famous for a unique maturation tradition that began accidentally in 1805; a shipment of potato spirit sent to Indonesia went unsold and returned to Norway, where it was discovered that the sea voyage and equatorial heat had significantly enhanced the flavour. Today, the brand is part of the Arcus portfolio, and every drop still undergoes a four month sea journey that crosses the equator twice.

2. Spirit Description

This potato based spirit is distilled in pot stills with a secret blend of Nordic herbs and spices, most notably caraway and star anise. It presents a clear, golden amber or bright buttercup hue. The aroma is complex and intriguing, featuring prominent caraway, aniseed, and orange peel alongside delicate hints of vanilla, fennel, and wood chips. On the palate, the spirit is extraordinarily smooth and well balanced, delivering leading notes of caraway-seeded rye bread, toasty oak, and liquorice, with finer hints of sherry and peppery spice. The body is moderately oily and rich, leading to a long, dry, and warming finish with lingering notes of herbal spices and old sherry. Lysholm Linie Aquavit is bottled at 41.5% ABV.
