Louis Roederer Collection 246 Blend (NV)
Produced in France’s iconic Champagne region, this multi-vintage cuvée represents the 246th blend since the house’s founding in 1776. Still family-owned and operated, Louis Roederer remains dedicated to an uncompromising pursuit of excellence, managing its estate with a focus on sustainable and biodynamic viticulture to fully express the unique qualities of the terroir. The winery’s philosophy centers on adapting to nature's offerings, utilizing a perpetual reserve to ensure a consistent house style characterized by elegance, complexity, and balance.
Wine Description
Collection 246 presents a luminous golden-yellow colour with exceptionally fine, even bubbles. The bouquet is complex and inviting, revealing aromas of mirabelle plum, nectarine, and candied lemon, layered with toasted vanilla notes and a subtle, briny reduction. On the palate, the wine is light and delicate, offering flavours of peach and floral pollen supported by a fresh, oily, and powdery texture. This blend features a high proportion of Chardonnay (54%), balanced by Pinot Noir (35%) and Meunier (11%), resulting in a wine of ethereal finesse and a saline, chalky finish.
Accolades
"Wine Spectator - 93 points"
"James Suckling - 93 points"
"Vinous - 93 points"
Food Pairing
The wine’s remarkable balance and lifted acidity make it a natural partner for a variety of sophisticated dishes. Its saline character and fine bubbles pair beautifully with seafood such as spicy bluefin tuna, salt and pepper squid, or devilled crab on toast. For a richer experience, the umami notes in the reserve wines perfectly complement beef tartare with parmesan or creamy cheeses.
