Long Shadows Chester Red Blend 2019
Long Shadows Chester-Kidder Red Blend is a distinguished New World cuvée from the Columbia Valley in Washington State, United States. Established in 2002 by Washington wine pioneer Allen Shoup, Long Shadows Vintners is a unique consortium of ultra-premium wineries where Shoup recruited internationally acclaimed winemakers to produce signature wines from the region's best fruit. Named in honour of Shoup’s mother, Elizabeth Chester, and grandmother, Maggie Kidder, this specific label is crafted by the estate’s resident director of winemaking and viticulture, Gilles Nicault, who has been with the project since its inception.
Wine Description
This wine is a concentrated and deeply coloured blend, typically dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah, often with a small addition of Petit Verdot. Intense aromas of graphite, cassis, and cocoa beans, alongside earthy undertones and hints of sweet spice. On the palate, the wine is viscous and layered, displaying flavours of black currant, fresh fig, and ripe plum interwoven with saline, iron, and a hint of dark chocolate. It features a rich, textured mouthfeel supported by balanced acidity and firm, building tannins that lead to a lengthy, silky finish.
