Lingua Franca Estate Chardonnay 2022

The Lingua Franca Estate Chardonnay is a 100% estate-grown wine from the Eola-Amity Hills subregion of the Willamette Valley, Oregon, USA. Co-founded in 2015 by Master Sommelier Larry Stone and renowned Burgundian winemaker Dominique Lafon, the winery was acquired by Constellation Brands in 2022 as part of its luxury Aspira portfolio. Winemaking is overseen by Thomas Savre, who focuses on organic and regenerative farming to capture the distinct character and mineral-driven tension of the vineyard's east-facing slopes.

Wine Description

This medium yellow-straw-coloured Chardonnay opens with a bright and lifted nose of lemon sherbet, kaffir lime, and nectarine, accented by notes of jasmine, flinty reduction, and crushed stone. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied and concentrated, entering with crisp green apple and creamy lemon that evolve into complex layers of chamomile, ginger, and sea salt. It features a round, unctuous texture balanced by vibrant acidity and a persistent saline finish with notes of lime pith and hazelnut.

Accolades

  • "Jeb Dunnuck – 94 points"

  • "Wine Enthusiast – 94 points"

  • "Wine Spectator – 93 points"

  • "James Suckling – 93 points"

  • "Vinous – 93 points"

Food Pairing

The wine's rich texture and underlying energy make it an excellent accompaniment to subtle yet rich seafood dishes such as halibut with chanterelle sauce, lobster Newberg, or black cod with shellfish sauce. It also pairs beautifully with roasted chicken, creamy risottos, and cheese-rich dishes like fondue or lasagna.
