La Stella Fortissimo 2022

La Stella Fortissimo originates from the Osoyoos Lake District in British Columbia’s Okanagan Valley, Canada. Established in 2006 by Sean and Saeedeh Salem, the winery is inspired by Italian winemaking traditions and the starry nights of Osoyoos. Winemaker Severine Pinte focuses on a philosophy of low-intervention viticulture and the use of large-format Hungarian and Slavonian oak to ensure the unique desert terroir remains the focus of every bottle.

Wine Description

This medium-dark ruby red blend presents an intricate sensory profile defined by its savoury depth. The nose is highly aromatic, featuring notes of black fruit, tobacco, and desert scrub, alongside hints of floral lift and smoked meat. On the palate, layers of Bing cherry and plum mingle with dried herbs and a touch of over-steeped black tea. The body is structured and balanced, offering supple tannins and a lingering, dry finish.

Food Pairing

The wine’s robust structure and savoury profile make it an ideal companion for rich, protein-heavy dishes such as grilled flank steak with mushroom tapenade or traditional osso buco. It also pairs beautifully with hearty pasta dishes like spaghetti nero with octopus or aged cheeses.
