J Maltus Collection 2019 - 6 Bottles

Le Dome 2019

96 Points - James Suckling

A rich, fragrant red with aromas of mulberries, dark plums, chocolate, cedar, cloves, mushrooms, and cigar box. Full-bodied with fine, creamy tannins. Polished and velvety with an intense, perfumed core of dark fruit.

97 Points - Jed Dunnock

Blackcurrants, violets, spring flowers, and damp earth are just some of its nuances, and it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, beautiful, seamless tannins, integrated acidity, and a great finish.

Les Asteries 2019

94+ Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, the 2019 Les Asteries wafts seductively out of the glass with fragrant notes of Ceylon tea, potpourri, forest floor, and lavender over a core of Morello cherries, wild blueberries, and blackberry tart with a touch of bouquet garni.

94+ Points - James Suckling

Real purity of fruit to this with a core of blue fruit and fine, ripe tannins. It's full-bodied, long, and energetic.

Le Carre 2019

94 Points - Jeb Dunnuck

Spiced black cherries, dried herbs, incense, chocolate, and some obvious minerality all emerge from the 2019 Le Carre, a rich, full-bodied, brilliantly textured, and voluptuous effort. It's one of the most opulent and sexy in the Maltus lineup.

94 Points - James Suckling

Lots of ripe dark and blue-fruit aromas with notes of violets and dried herbs, as well as some chocolate and licorice. Full-bodied, firm, and polished with layers of tannins, deep fruit, and a savory finish.

Vieux Chateau Mazerat 2019

96+ Jeb Dunnuck

Another beautiful wine in the making, with beautiful ripeness in its blackcurrants, roasted herbs, chocolate, unsmoked tobacco, and damp earth-like aromas and flavors. Rich, full-bodied, and gorgeous on the palate, it has an incredibly seamless texture paired with plenty of opulence and texture as well as minerality on the finish. It's a gem of a wine.

95 Points - Decanter

Quite different in feel and weight than the others in the Maltus range, this is a little fresher, with higher Cabernet Franc that gives it a sense of reserve. As it unrolls in the glass, you see the complexity and tight blueberry and blackberry fruits.

Chateau Teyssier 2019

93+ Points - James Suckling

Tight, focused, ripe fruit with chewy, polished tannins. It's full-bodied with a lingering and precise finish. Extremely well-done.

91+ Points - Jeb Dunnuck

The 2019 Chateau Teyssier reveals a dense purple color and a great bouquet of crème de cassis, red plums, unsmoked tobacco, damp earth, and spice.

Chateau Laforge 2019

93 Points - Vinous

Black cherry, plum, chocolate, tobacco, licorice, and lavender build beautifully with some aeration. The 2019 is sumptuous, bold, and racy, Laforge is an absolute joy to taste today. This flamboyant, racy Saint-Emilion will be a jewel to drink now and over the next few years.

93 Points - Jeb Dunnuck

Medium-bodied aromas and flavors of savory red and black fruits, leafy herbs, iron, and tobacco. It has good acidity, ripe tannins, and, as with all of the releases from Malthus, is beautifully balanced. Drink this already complex, layered, seamless 2019 over the coming 15+ years.
