Glenmorangie Single Malt "A Tale of Spices"
Glenmorangie 'A Tale of Spices' is a limited-edition single malt Scotch whisky produced in the Highland town of Tain, Scotland. Released in late 2025 as the sixth entry in the distillery's annual 'A Tale of...' series, it follows previous themed expressions such as 'A Tale of Tokyo' and 'A Tale of Ice Cream'. The spirit was envisioned by Director of Whisky Creation Dr. Bill Lumsden and Master Blender Gillian Macdonald, who sought to capture the sensory experience of global spice markets. Founded in 1843, Glenmorangie is noted for having the tallest copper stills in Scotland and is currently owned by the luxury group Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy.
Spirit Description
This non-age-statement whisky features a unique four-cask finish combination never previously utilized at the distillery. After initial maturation in ex-bourbon barrels, the spirit is finished in Moroccan red wine casks (French oak), new charred oak casks, shaved and toasted ex-red wine casks, and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks.
Colour: The whisky presents a deep coppery gold.
Aroma: The nose is perfumed and sweet, offering floral notes of rose, jasmine, and lilac alongside complex spices like cumin, saffron, nutmeg, and ginger.
Palate: It has a viscous, almost waxy mouthfeel that bursts with 'sizzling' spices including black pepper and mustard seed, balanced by demerara sugar, mint toffee, and orange marmalade.
Body: The profile is described as uniquely complex, balancing a 'chewy' texture with a distinct eucalyptus lift.
Finish: It concludes with a long, drying finish characterized by an elegant peppery warmth and lingering oak tannins.
ABV: This expression is bottled at 46%.
