Gilvesy Bohem Cuvee 2024
The Gilvesy Bohem Cuvee originates from the Badacsony region on the north-west shore of Lake Balaton in Hungary. Founded in 2012 by Hungarian expat Robert Gilvesy, who returned to his ancestral homeland from Canada, the winery is situated on the former Esterházy estate on Szent Gyorgy Hill. The winemaking philosophy focuses on organic cultivation and minimal intervention to express the unique volcanic terroir, which is characterized by six million year old basalt formations and mineral-rich soils.
Wine Description
This light-bodied white cuvee displays a pale, zesty appearance. The aromatic profile is defined by fresh notes of mint, lemon, and sliced cucumber, often accompanied by a distinct flinty minerality. On the palate, the wine is vibrant and crisp, featuring flavors of green apple, citrus fruit, and white peach supported by a persistent, saline finish.
Food Pairing
The wine’s sharp acidity and mineral tension make it an excellent match for light summer fare, such as grilled white fish with lemon and herbs or a zesty ceviche. It also pairs beautifully with fresh garden salads featuring walnuts and dried cranberries or creamy goat cheese.
