Gaja Barolo Dagromis 2021
Introduction
Gaja Barolo Dagromis is a red wine from Italy, produced in the Piedmont region and the Barolo D.O.C.G. appellation. The wine is made by the Gaja winery, one of Italy's most fabled wine estates. The name 'DaGromis' is given in homage to the Gromis family, the original owners of the highly regarded vineyard sites that Gaja purchased in 1995. The winery's philosophy is centred on showcasing a broader expression of the Langhe's terroir by blending fruit from the distinct terroirs of La Morra and Serralunga d'Alba.
Wine Description
The wine is 100% Nebbiolo. It has an intense red or deep garnet red colour. The aromatic profile includes mixed aromatic herbs, spices, rose, anise, and wild fennel. Aromas of violets, rose petals, white pepper, licorice, and rich red currant also combine with balanced oak. It has a solid structure and is medium to full-bodied. The initial aromatics flow across the palate with freshness and harmonious complexity, revealing juicy red orange and red grapefruit. The classic licorice and mineral austerity is supported by oak and noticeable tannins, which soften as the wine ages. Stylistically, it is a sensational Barolo famous all over the world, possessing extraordinary elegance and great importance. The grapes are fermented and macerated in stainless steel tanks for three weeks.
Food Pairing
This rich red wine with great importance is perfect with sophisticated main dishes. Suggested pairings include roasted or braised meat, game, mild game dishes, and risotto.
