Fontodi Filetta Di Lamole 2022

Produced in the heart of Italy, this wine hails from the Chianti Classico region of Tuscany, specifically the high-altitude subregion of Lamole. The Fontodi estate has been owned by the Manetti family since 1968, though their local history as terracotta tile artisans stretches back centuries. Winemaker Giovanni Manetti restored the Filetta vineyard to produce a wine that reflects the distinct, cooler terroir of Lamole, which is home to some of the oldest Sangiovese vines in the region.

Wine Description

This 100% Sangiovese displays a vibrant ruby red colour with a clarity reminiscent of Pinot Noir. The aromatic profile is highly perfumed and lacy, featuring notes of plum, wild cherry, and blackberry intertwined with white pepper, sage, and dried rose petals. On the palate, the wine is medium bodied and elegant, offering a silky texture with refined, grainy tannins and a lively acidity. The finish is vibrant and tense, showing notable concentration and a lingering hint of mineral-rich graphite.

Accolades

  • Wine Spectator - 93 points

  • Vinous - 93 points

  • James Suckling - 93 points

Food Pairing

Pair with a classic Tuscan Bistecca Fiorentina, pasta with wild boar ragu or savory duck sausage, or aged cheeses such as Parmigiano Reggiano or Pecorino Toscano.
