Emmolo Sparkling Methode Traditionnelle (By Caymus)

This elegant and 'serious' sparkling wine originates from the United States, specifically from several cool-climate coastal regions across California including Sonoma, Santa Barbara, and Monterey Counties. Introduced in 2019, this label is part of the Wagner Family of Wines and is crafted by owner and winemaker Jenny Wagner. Named after her maternal family who established a historic grapevine rootstock nursery in Napa Valley in the 1920s, the winery's philosophy for this cuvée is to create a richly developed character inspired by premium Champagnes while maintaining California freshness.

Wine Description

The Emmolo Methode Traditionnelle presents a luminous light gold colour, often with highlights of rose gold. The complex sensory profile features an expressive nose of daffodils, freshly cut pear, and green apple, layered with sophisticated notes of almond biscotti, toasted brioche, and a subtle hint of new leather. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied and 'vibrant', showcasing a finely beaded mousse and bright citrus flavours of clementine, ruby red grapefruit, and lemon pith. It is characterized by a creamy, 'Nilla-wafer' texture and a saline, wet-stone minerality derived from extended aging on the lees. The finish is dry and savory, with lingering echoes of honeycrisp apple and apricot. This non-vintage blend typically consists of approximately 62% to 65% Chardonnay and 35% to 38% Pinot Noir, reaching an alcohol content (ABV) of 12.4% to 12.7%. While the Wagner family prioritizes hand-selection and meticulous winemaking, this specific bottling is not certified organic.
