El Tequileño Rosado (often referred to as Rose Joven) is a highly innovative and visually striking expression from the historic El Tequileño distillery in the town of Tequila, Jalisco. Founded in 1959 by Don Jorge Salles Cuervo, the distillery is currently overseen by third-generation Master Distiller Jorge Antonio Salles. This "Rosa" style is part of a growing trend in the tequila industry that bridges the gap between spirits and fine wine. Unlike traditional gold tequilas that use caramel coloring, this Joven achieves its natural blush hue through a unique resting process in high-quality wine casks.
Spirit Description
This tequila is distinguished by its delicate, pale rose-gold colour. On the nose, it balances the earthy, cooked agave character of a classic highland tequila with an elegant "wine-like" floral bouquet and notes of red berries. The palate is smooth and sophisticated, offering a fusion of sweet agave, vanilla, and light acidity, followed by subtle hints of toasted nuts and dried cherries. Because it is a "Joven" (a blend of unaged blanco and aged tequila), it retains the vibrant, peppery energy of a white tequila while gaining a refined, velvety mouthfeel from its time in the wood. It is double-distilled in copper pot stills and bottled at 35% to 40% ABV.
