E. Pira e Figli Chiara Boschis - Barolo 'Mosconi' 2020

This Barolo originates from the Mosconi vineyard in the Monforte d'Alba subregion of Piedmont, Italy. The historic E. Pira e Figli estate was acquired in 1981 by the Boschis family, who entrusted the winery to Chiara Boschis, one of the first female winemakers in the region and a leading figure in the 'Barolo Boys' revolution. Her winemaking philosophy focuses on marrying the traditional power of Barolo with modern elegance and approachability, utilizing certified organic farming and meticulous manual vineyard management.

Wine Description

The Barolo 'Mosconi' presents a rich ruby red colour with a slight garnet reflection. The nose is aromatically complex, offering vibrant notes of red raspberry, black cherry, and dried roses, underpinned by savory hints of eucalyptus, menthol, anise, and dusty earth. On the palate, the wine is full bodied, broad, and authoritative, featuring a core of morello cherry and plum. It displays the muscular structure typical of Monforte, with dense, ripe tannins and a chalky texture that leads into a long, mineral finish with pure notes of apricot and iron.
