Domaine Jean Fery Meursault 2023

Meursault Domaine Jean Féry 2023 is an exceptional white wine crafted from Chardonnay grapes grown on the iconic argilo-calcaire (clay-limestone) soils of the Côte de Beaune in Burgundy, France.

Domaine Jean Féry & Fils is a family-run estate based in Échevronne, managed by Jean-Louis Féry since 1988. The winery manages approximately 14 hectares of vineyards and has been certified organic by ECOCERT since 2011, reflecting a dedication to sustainable viticulture and minimal intervention. The estate is currently transitioning to the next generation, with Jean-Louis's sons, Frédéric and Laurent, continuing the family's passion for producing honest, terroir-driven Burgundy.

Wine Description

This 2022 vintage displays a light golden colour with a dense, concentrated texture. The aromatic profile is complex and multifaceted, featuring enticing scents of citrus, white flowers, and toasted almond, followed by notes of pear, vanilla, and a slight nutty touch. On the palate, the wine is powerful and well-balanced, associating a creamy, buttery texture with high precision and linear acidity. It is characterized by its chalky minerality, density of expression, and a long, dry finish that remains elegant and refreshing.

The wine is 100% Chardonnay, hand-harvested to ensure fruit integrity. To preserve freshness and avoid oxidation, the grapes are immediately pressed with a pneumatic press upon arrival at the winery. The juice is settled for 24 hours before being fermented in oak barrels—typically with 50% new oak—where it undergoes twice-monthly stirring of the lees (bâtonnage) until the completion of malolactic fermentation. This 2022 release reflects a refined use of wood that frames the wine without overpowering its natural fruit and terroir character.

Food Pairing

The rich and full-bodied nature of this Meursault makes it an ideal companion for high-quality seafood and creamy dishes. It pairs excellently with lobster, crab, or seared scallops served with a brown-butter sauce. It is also a magnificent match for roasted poultry, pork or veal in a mushroom cream sauce, and creamy pastas or mushroom risottos. For a cheese course, it complements soft, mild cheeses such as Brie or Camembert.
