Chateau Lafon Rochet 2016

A Fourth Growth Estate from the 1855 Classification, Château Lafon-Rochet is located in the Saint-Estèphe appellation of Bordeaux, France. The estate's history dates back to 1680. The vineyard is on two ridges of the Saint-Estèphe appellation, where gravel soils provide drainage and clay provides nutrients to the vines. Since 1960, the estate has been owned by the Tesseron family.

Wine Description The Château Lafon-Rochet 2016 has a deep, dark ruby red color. The wine is a blend of 67% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Petit Verdot. It is a full-bodied, rich, and intense wine. On the nose, it has a mix of red and black fruit aromas, with notes of crushed violet, wild mint, crushed stone, pencil shavings, cassis, and loganberry. The palate is beautifully balanced with supple tannins and lovely acidity. It has flavours of black fruit, dark chocolate, and spicy, roasted notes. The finish is long, deep, and layered with fine tannins and notes of black pepper and tobacco. The wine can be enjoyed now, but it is often better with a few years of bottle age.
