Chateau Camensac 2022

Introduction

Château Camensac is a Fifth Growth red wine from the Haut-Médoc appellation on the Left Bank of Bordeaux, France. The estate’s history is rooted in the 18th century, but it saw a modern revival after being purchased in 1964 by Enrique Forner, who applied his extensive winemaking experience from Spain's Rioja region to restore the property. Since 2005, the château has been owned by Jean Merlaut and Céline Villars-Foubet, who emphasize a 'vineyard up' philosophy and a constant search for excellence in expressing the estate’s unique gravel terroir.

Wine Description

It presents a deep ruby and purple colour that remains vibrant to the rim. The bouquet is complex and scented, opening with intense red fruit and red roses before revealing deeper notes of spiced berries, pencil shavings, white pepper, and crème de cassis. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied with a silky texture and ample volume. Flavours of blackberry, plum, and dark cherry are supported by firm, polished tannins and a mineral-limestone core. The finish is long and persistent, exhaling notes of savory salinity and savory dark fruit.
