Bodegas Venta la Vega 'Adaras Aldea' Red Blend 2021
Adaras Aldea Red Blend 2021 is an organic red wine from the Almansa region in the Castilla-La Mancha area of southeastern Spain.
The wine is produced by Bodegas Venta la Vega, an estate located in a mountainous territory featuring limestone and clay soils. The winery manages over 850 hectares of ecological farmland with vineyards situated at altitudes up to 1,200 metres, creating distinct microclimates that facilitate sustainable and low-intervention viticulture. Under the direction of oenologist Jose Angel Martinez, the estate focuses on championing native grape varieties that have adapted to the region's extreme heat and dry conditions.
Wine Description
This 2021 vintage presents a deep cherry red colour often characterized by violet highlights. On the nose, it offers an inviting bouquet of ripe and pulpy red fruits, black cherry, and floral aromatics, balanced by hints of liquorice and kirsch. The palate is medium bodied and juicy, featuring concentrated red fruit flavours underpinned by a stony minerality and smooth tannins. It is defined by its freshness and a dry, persistent finish.
The blend is composed of 80% Garnacha Tintorera (also known as Alicante Bouschet) and 20% Syrah. To maintain natural acidity, the grapes are harvested at night and undergo fermentation in stainless steel tanks. The wine is aged for three months in oak barrels, which adds structure while keeping the fruit profile forward. It has an ABV of 14% and is certified both organic and vegan.
Food Pairing
This juicy red blend is highly versatile and pairs well with leaner red meats, roasted poultry, and various BBQ dishes. It is an excellent accompaniment to rich stews, pasta with red sauce, and vegetable tagine. For a lighter experience during summer months, it can be served slightly chilled alongside roast pork or aged cheeses.
