Ben Marco Malbec 2019

Introduction

BenMarco Malbec 2019 originates from the prestigious Uco Valley in Mendoza, Argentina, specifically from the Los Chacayes subregion. A dedicated project of Susana Balbo Wines, BenMarco is under the direction of Edgardo 'Edy' Del Popolo, one of Argentina’s most experienced viticulturists. The winery’s philosophy centres on minimal intervention and a 'vineyard-first' approach, aiming to provide the purest interpretation of the unique, high-altitude alluvial soils found in the region.

Wine Description

The 2019 BenMarco Malbec presents a dense purple-red colour and an expressive, floral bouquet. The nose is showy and aromatic, featuring fresh black fruits like blackberry and blueberry alongside notes of violets, black pepper, and aromatic herbs. On the palate, this medium-bodied wine is balanced and polished, showcasing a refined texture with firm, fine-grained tannins and a bright thread of acidity. Composed of 100% Malbec, the wine was aged for 11 months in second-use French oak barrels to preserve its fruit purity. The finish is long and elegant, accented by hints of graphite, minerals, and dark chocolate. Its optimal drinking window is estimated from 2022 through 2029.
