The wine is produced by the Fattoria Aldobrandesca estate, which is owned by the Antinori family. The estate is situated in the southern part of the Tuscan Maremma, in what is known as 'the Etruscan Tuff zone'. The wine's name, 'Vie Cave,' is a dedication to the ancient Etruscan excavated roads in the area. The Antinori family has a winemaking history in Tuscany dating back six centuries. The estate's vineyards are planted on the slopes of a tufa spur where the town of Sovana is located, with Malbec thriving in the region's volcanic soils.

Wine Description

This wine is a single-varietal red made from 100% Malbec grapes. It typically presents an intense, dark, and dense ruby red colour. The aroma is rich, offering enticing fruity notes of blackberries, blueberries, and sour cherries, blended harmoniously with spicy hints of cloves and vanilla, and complemented by light notes of tobacco. On the palate, the wine is rich, captivating, and full-bodied, with silky and velvety tannins. Stylistic notes include being balanced and soft. The finish is long and persistent, defined by hints of bitter chocolate and mint. The alcohol by volume (ABV) is approximately 14.5% to 15%.
