This red wine originates from Italy, specifically from the historic heartland of the Chianti Classico DOCG region in Tuscany. The Marchesi Antinori family can trace its winemaking history back to 1385, spanning 26 generations of direct management. The winery's philosophy balances a deep respect for Tuscan tradition with a pioneering spirit, notably reinterpreting this historic label—first produced in 1928—as a premium Riserva that showcases the quality and elegance of the Sangiovese grown at their famed Tenuta Tignanello estate.

Wine Description

Marchese Antinori Chianti Classico Riserva displays an intense ruby red colour, occasionally showing subtle garnet reflections with age. The nose is expressive and layered, offering aromas of red fruit such as black cherries and raspberries, alongside floral notes of violets and rose petals. The complex bouquet is further accented by integrated notes of toasted wood, tobacco, white chocolate, and sweet spices like cinnamon. On the palate, the wine is smooth and supple, featuring vibrant, fine-grained tannins and a balanced structure that delivers flavours of plum, cherry, and iron. It is characterized by its elegant minerality and a lengthy, sapid finish. The varietal composition is almost entirely Sangiovese (typically 90%), blended with small portions of Cabernet Sauvignon and occasionally Merlot. The ABV is approximately 13.5% to 14.5% depending on the vintage. While the estate adheres to high environmental standards, this wine is not typically certified organic. The optimal drinking window ranges from 2025 through 2047, with recent vintages noted for both early accessibility and exceptional aging potential.
