Alois Lageder Lagrein Alto Adige 2022

Product image 1

Alois Lageder Lagrein Alto Adige 2022

This vibrant and "authentic" red wine originates from Italy, specifically from the Alto Adige DOC (South Tyrol) in the foothills of the Alps. Alois Lageder, established in 1823 and now in its sixth generation, is a pioneer of sustainable viticulture in the region. The winery's philosophy is rooted in a deep respect for nature; while their estate vineyards have been biodynamic for decades, as of the 2024 harvest, 100% of their partner vineyards (totaling 140 hectares) are now also farmed using organic or biodynamic methods. This Lagrein represents the "Classic" line, designed to showcase the pure, varietal character of one of Alto Adige’s most cherished native grapes.

Wine Description

Alois Lageder Lagrein presents a deep cherry-red color with ruby and violet reflections. The sensory profile is rich and fruity, featuring an aromatic nose of ripe berries, plums, and violets, layered with sophisticated hints of spices, leather, and cocoa. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied and "structured," showcasing a fresh acidity and noticeable tannins that are balanced by a soft, persistent finish. This 100% Lagrein reached an ABV of 11.5% to 12%. To preserve its "mountain freshness," the wine underwent malolactic fermentation and was matured for approximately 12 months in a combination of stainless steel and concrete tanks.
