Agnes Paquet Bourgogne Chardonnay 2023
Introduction
Agnes Paquet Bourgogne Chardonnay is a white wine from the Burgundy region of France, specifically sourced from the Côte de Beaune. After studying business, Agnes Paquet returned to her family's estate in 2000 to reclaim vineyards owned by her ancestors since the 1950s, producing her first vintage in 2001. Her winemaking philosophy is rooted in a traditional and sustainable approach, having eliminated chemical herbicides in 2004 and achieved Ecocert organic certification starting with the 2021 vintage.
Wine Description
This wine exhibits a light straw colour and a profile described as alive, energetic, and impossibly fresh. The sensory profile features an expressive nose of pear, lemon, and white flowers, accented by hints of almond blossom and a subtle spicy core. On the palate, it is lively yet round, balancing a crisp minerality and a striking 'acid sting' with succulent flavours of green apple and nectarine. The finish is persistent and clean, often displaying a notable saline edge. This 100% Chardonnay is a blend of fruit from the 'Les Lurets' vineyard in Volnay and purchased grapes from the Hautes Côtes de Beaune. It was fermented with natural yeasts and matured for 8 to 10 months in a combination of stainless steel tanks and oak barrels.
